Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop is a
graphics editing program developed and published by
Adobe Systems.
Adobe's 2003 "
Creative Suite" rebranding led to Adobe Photoshop 8's renaming to Adobe Photoshop CS. Thus, Adobe Photoshop CS6 is the
13th major release
of Adobe Photoshop. The CS rebranding also resulted in Adobe offering
numerous software packages containing multiple Adobe programs for a
reduced price. Adobe Photoshop is released in two editions:
Adobe Photoshop, and
Adobe Photoshop Extended, with the Extended having extra 3D image creation, motion graphics editing, and advanced image analysis features.
[6]
Adobe Photoshop Extended is included in all of Adobe's Creative Suite
offerings except Design Standard, which includes the Adobe Photoshop
edition.
Alongside Photoshop and Photoshop Extended, Adobe also publishes
Photoshop Elements and
Photoshop Lightroom, collectively called "The Adobe Photoshop Family". In 2008, Adobe released
Adobe Photoshop Express, a free
web-based image editing tool to edit photos directly on blogs and social networking sites. In 2011, a version was released for the
Android operating system and the
iOS operating system, followed by a release of a version for
Windows 8 in 2013
Microsoft Unveils Xbox One: 8-Core CPU, New Kinect, Redesigned Controller And More

“Lag-free,
instant and complete experience” – these are the words Microsoft
executives used to describe the company’s next console generation during
this morning’s Xbox Unveil event. From the
preview and demonstrations that were given, they were right on.
The next
Xbox, officially dubbed the Xbox One, is not only intuitive and wicked
fast, it’s also crammed full of next-gen technologies that will help the
console rocket forward to a successful launch.
Unlike
Sony and their developer-oriented teaser event,
which was almost entirely focused on games and supporting independent
developers, Microsoft took a different approach. Within the first 10
minutes of their event, the company had already revealed the Xbox One,
the controller and the new Kinect hardware for the Xbox One.
In an approach to unify customers’ televisions, set-top boxes and other components, the next
Xbox was portrayed during today’s event as the unifying, all-in-one
component that solves unnecessary clutter and entertainment
fragmentation. When viewed in that context, it’s no wonder Microsoft
chose to name their next console the Xbox One.

From a
specifications
standpoint, the Xbox One is fully equipped to go head-to-head with Sony
and their upcoming next-generation PlayStation 4 console. Microsoft’s
Xbox One will be equipped with an 8-core processor, 8GB of system
memory, a 500 GB HDD, a Blue-ray drive, USB 3.0, 802.11n with Wi-Fi
Direct and, of course, HDMI in/out.
Furthermore, it appears that the Xbox One will be bundled with
next-generation Kinect hardware, which will offer a 1080P full-HD
camera, support for 30 FPS,
Time of Flight (TOF) and improved microphone technology.
Aside from the impressive hardware, the unveiling event also focused
on Instant Switching, which will allow the Xbox One to switch from one
input or task to the next in near-real-time. Additionally, voice
recognition is seamlessly integrated right out of the box, allowing
individuals to easily and intuitively control the Xbox One.
Snap Mode is another intriguing feature that will allow the Xbox to
run various apps and elements side-by-side. For example, users can
browse the web on Internet Explorer while also watching live TV.
The controller is also redesigned, with a new
ergonomic concept in mind, it will offer an integrated battery
compartment, “Impulse Triggers,” Wi-Fi Direct Radio Stack and a “Precision Directional Pad”.
Although the announcement lasted a mere hour, Microsoft also touched on a personalized Xbox
TV Guide, always-on Kinect
gesture recognition
for interface navigation, the Xbox One’s three operating system
architecture, 15 exclusive titles that will launch in the first year
alone, the massive Xbox Live upgrade to 300,000 servers from roughly
15,000 current servers, a live-action Halo TV series with director
Steven Spielberg and a handful of game previews.
As we quickly approach the
annual
E3 gaming convention slated for June, which will undoubtedly play host
to additional announcements from Microsoft concerning the Xbox One, stay
tuned for complete coverage on the forthcoming console
It was just a couple of days ago that we
reported that the YouTube client for Windows Phone 8 developed by Microsoft was back on the Windows Phone Store. Unfortunately, that app is no longer usable because Google has remotely blocked access through it.
This has resulted in Microsoft releasing a long blog post detailing why the app was removed and how, in their words, the reasons were “manufactured” so that the Windows Phone version could not offer the same experience as the Android or iPhone app.
You may remember Microsoft recently
updated the YouTube app for Windows Phone 8 and made it into a proper app and not just a bookmark for launching the mobile version before. Then Google got upset because the app didn’t include ads and
asked Microsoft to remove the app, which the latter complied with.
Well luckily, the app is now back on the Windows Phone Store. It seems Microsoft and Google have resolved their issues over the matter and the updated version of the app (it had previously rolled back to the bookmark version) is now available for download.
We all know that Nokia Lumia 925 packs a pretty decent 8.7 megapixel camera that comes with optical image stabilization and f/2.0 aperture. The latest Lumia 925 ad, which is quite hilarious and engaging, promotes the low light performance that those last two bits bring.
The promo video that runs for just over half a minute, tells the story of four friends trying to capture a shot at night using a phone.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 will be featured in a lot of head to head battles and today it’s time to tackle the Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom. The Lumia 1020 has its large, high resolution sensor (1/1.5″ 41MP) to rely on, while the S4 zoom boasts 10x zoom that’s something you just don’t see on a device with full phone capabilities.
Those lead to different strengths, like much better bokeh effect from the Lumia 1020, while the S4 zoom is true to its name and wins hands down when it comes to zoom.
A new update of the Extras + Info service app for Nokia Lumia brings options for call and SMS blocking. The update is available to all Windows Phone 8-powered Lumia smartphones, but the new functionality works only on those running on the GDR2 a.k.a. Amber update.
Thanks to new APIs coming with the WP8 GDR2 update, Nokia was able to add the call/SMS blocking functionality to its latest smartphones. Currently, Nokia Lumia 1020 and Lumia 925 are running it officially, while the rest of the Lumia WP8 gang (920/820/720/620/520) will be getting it any moment now.
The
Nokia Lumia 1020 is in a league of its own when it comes to mobile imaging – it trumps the competition in
low-light conditions, heck it doesn’t do half bad against full-fledged shooters like the
Canon 60D DSLR. It could only be challenged on a handheld phone by its brother in imaging technology the
Nokia 808 PureView, although it still has the upper hand thanks to its optical image stabilization.
Ever wondered what happens behind the scenes when you click the Lumia 1020 shutter key? Well now you have a chance to see as Nokia has posted an incredibly well designed video, showing the whole process. The video is so cool that it’s worth checking out even if you aren’t particularly interested in the Lumia 1020.
Motorola made a big deal of the 10MP ClearPixel camera found on the Moto X and boasted about its low light performance to anyone who would listen. So, it’s only logical for a comparison to ensue, and the Moto X has taken part in an impromptu shootout featuring the 41MP PureView camera of the Nokia Lumia 1020.
The two phones were tested with their flash units on and off, so we can compare their low-light performance as well as the quality of their flash units.
WhatsApp has started rolling out a new update across the various platforms that prioritizes the voice messaging feature of the service. This move probably comes after other messaging services have started incorporating and promoting their voice messaging feature.
To be clear, this is not a new feature even for WhatsApp as the functionality was always available. The only difference is that now it is prominently placed in the UI with the latest update. Now, you’ll see a microphone button instead of the Send button when no message is being typed in the message field. Press and hold this button and your message starts getting recorded. Slide left any time to cancel the recording.
Skype for Windows Phone 8 now has a people list filter, which allows you to filter out your phone contacts and your Skype contacts. You can now have a list of all your contacts, just Skype contacts or only those that are online.
Nokia has released a new commercial for the
Lumia 925 that showcases the camera capability of the device and pits it against the
iPhone 5.
The video is directed in the same way as the
recent iPhone commercial, showing people using the Lumia 925 in almost near identical situations, obviously intended more as a mockery of Apple’s commercial rather than flattery. Nokia shows side by side comparisons of low light shots taken through the Lumia 925 and the iPhone 5 and the former obviously has an edge over the latter due to the presence of optical image stabilization that enables the use of a longer shutter speed.
Nokia is by far the biggest player in the Windows Phone 8 game. However, the Finns doesn’t seem to be too happy with the progress of the latest version of the platform.
In an interview with International Business Times, Nokia’s Vice President of App development, Bryan Biniak has expressed his disappointment over the Microsoft’s approach in developing the Windows Phone operating system
.
If the 41MP camera of the Nokia Lumia 1020 wasn’t enough of a selling feature for you, then this cool and detailed infographic showing 41 reasons to get the cameraphone might prove useful.
Made by Nokia USA, the infographic shows the Lumia 1020 in a very nice and detailed way with pointers to each of the 41 reasons the company thinks are worthy of your attention. Naturally, the list starts with the 41MP sensor and goes on with its features – digital zoom, six-element ZEISS lenses, optical image stabilization and excellent low-light performance
Nokia has updated its Pro Cam app for its recently
launched Lumia 1020 smartphone. The Pro Cam app, which grants you full control over the settings of the monstrous camera and allows capture of 38MP shots, now brings the exposure bracketing functionality.
The exposure bracketing allows you to shoot a series of images in either 3 or 5 different exposure settings.
Windows Phone 8 has finally received its own a native torrent client after wpTorrent graduated from beta and is now available on the Windows Phone Store.
Obtainable in a paid and a free versions, the app allows you to download files from torrent files and magnet links alike.
The
Nokia Lumia 625 aims to bring a big screen and LTE connectivity on the cheap this September. The phone packs a 4.7″ WVGA screen (201ppi) with Nokia’s color profile and super sensitivity goodies, plus a 5MP / 1080p camera that features the Smart Camera app.
Companies behind mobile OSes love bragging about how many apps there are intheirespective app stores, but mobile app testing company StarDust has conducted a 6 month long study and found things they wouldn’t be so proud about.
The study looked into how many old apps get updated and how many don’t get updated at all. The results of the study are presented as an easy to digest infographic.
Have you ever got stuck under your garage cupboard and need to cut off your hand because you can’t unlock your iPhone with rubber gloves? Yeah, me too!
Nokia’s latest Lumia ad pokes fun at Apple’s iPhone because its screen isn’t usable with rubber (or any other type) gloves on and in the case of the main character in the new video the Finns published that will cost him his arm.
In line with its promise to garner wider enterprise usage this month, Nokia has delivered big time as its partnership with Delta Air Lines has come to fruition.
Some 19,000 Lumia 820′s have been deployed to Delta flight attendants, complete with special additions to streamline onboard purchasing from passengers.
There, the kids’ parents are fighting for the top spot to take the best photo. And thus hilarity at the expense of the iPhones and the Samsung Galaxy smartphones ensues.
Gameloft’s next big release in the Asphalt series of racing games – Asphalt 8: Airborne – has finally been released on the App Store. The Android version of the game should be arriving shortly and even a Windows Phone 8version is on the cards.
Update: Asphalt 8: Airborne is now available on Android devices too. You can find the links to download the popular racing game below.
AdDuplex is back with its monthly report on the Windows Phone situation. We’re seeing the first steps of the new Nokia Lumia 1020 flagship, which seems to be outsekkubg its Lumia 928 sibling but is still too young (just a few weeks on sale) for any more detailed numbers.
There are only two companies of note when it comes to Windows Phone – Nokia with about 87% of the market and HTC with about 10%. But this doesn’t mean the WP market is unified
Gameloft has announced its plans to launch a total of 15 games for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 by the end of this year and throughout 2014. Headlining the list is Asphalt 8: Airborne, which hits Android and iOS tomorrow.
Four of the games will be new for the Windows Phone 8 platform, while all 15 will be hitting Windows 8.
Do you get blackout drunk regularly? Because if you do, Nokia thinks you should buy the Lumia 925 – the optical image stabilization and ZEISS optics mean you can get good photos of the dodgy, poorly lit night clubs you visit, so that you can remember what you did last night.
Someone must have had quite the hangover when they thought of this ad
After Nokia rolled out the Amber update, adding the Pro Camera app on the higher-end Lumias (920, 925 and 928) some Lumia 920 owners are reporting on Reddit that their phones have an unusual yellow hue on their images.

Nokia’s Windows RT tablet revealed in new leaked image
We have been
seeing bits and pieces of Nokia’s alleged Windows RT tablet for a while now. Windows expert Paul Thurott now has what looks like a press image of this unnamed Nokia tablet that is scheduled to be announced later this month.
The Nokia tablet will have a 10-inch 1080p display, a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 6.7 megapixel camera and a $499 price tag. As mentioned before, this tablet will be running on Windows RT and not the full blown Windows 8, which is a cause for concern.
Along with the Nokia tablet, Thurott also revealed a bunch of other Windows tablets particularly in the new 8-inch form factor, that includes the new Dell Venue, Lenovo Mix 8, Toshiba Encore and a Microsoft Surface ‘mini’. For more details on all these tablets, head over to the source link below...
ASUS Zenbook UX301 sports 2560 x 1440 touch-enabled Gorilla Glass 3-protected display
Moments before the ASUS IFA 2013 event kicks off, we get a little tasty treat in the form of a promo video, ASUS posted itself on YouTube. The video’s main focus is the precision-crafted ultrabook Zenbook UX301 and all its mouth-watering features.
The ultrabook will sport a 2560 x 1440 resolution atop that 13.3″ screen, which results in a really nice 220 ppi. Not only that, but the panel will be touch-enabled, which will play nicely with the touch-optimized Windows 8 that sits at the helm.
The ASUS Zenbook UX301 is powered by a Haswell Core i7, has Wi-Fi 802.11ac, the ASUS SonicMaster audio
Panasonic to showcase a 20″ tablet with 4K OLED screen at IFA
Panasonic announced a Windows 8-powered
20″ tablet with 4K resolution at CES in early January this year and has since shown it off a few more times. The company has announced what it will also be bringing its products to IFA and a 20″ 4K tablet is on the list.
So, why is Panasonic showing the same tablet over half a year later?
It seems it’s not the same tablet – Panasonic calls it the world’s thinnest and lightest 20″ 4K tablet (like there are a lot of those), but the key is in the screen tech, it’s OLED. The one from CES had a IPS LCD screen instead. As fans of OLED screens, we’re eager to hear more about this tablet – starting with the price.
By the way, Panasonic called the tablet from CES “4K”, but that’s not quite true – 4K UHD is 3840 x 2160, while the actual tablet resolution was higher – 3840 x 2560 (15:10 aspect ratio) – so there’s a chance the IFA tablet has the same resolution.
The other item of interest (to us) on the list is the Lumix GX7 mirrorless interchangeable lens camera (but this one is already official).
Nokia Windows RT tablet spotted with Verizon branding, said to launch in September
A Nokia Windows RT tablet has been spotted in the wild. The device has the familiar Verizon and 4G LTE logos on the back and the red color to go with the branding. The tablet will also be available on AT&T at launch.
In terms of specifications, the Nokia tablet is said to have a 10.1-inch display, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and obvious LTE support. The device is seemingly using Nokia’s unibody polycarbonate design and you can see the volume keys and what seems to be the power button on the right. A camera is nowhere to be found on the back.
The tablet is rumored to launch on September 26. More details should be uncovered during Nokia’s event next month.
I’m not sure what Nokia’s game plan is here. Microsoft’s own Surface RT was an unmitigated failure. Nobody really wants to use Windows RT. It’s strange that Nokia would take such a gamble, considering they aren’t doing all that well financially.
Windows 8.1 arriving on October 18
We had heard rumors that the Windows 8.1 update would be arriving some time in October this year but now we finally have the proper release date.
According to a blog post on Microsoft’s Windows blog, the Windows 8.1 update would be released to the general public on October 18 at 12:00 a.m New Zealand time. The Windows 8.1 would also be available at retail outlets and pre-installed on new devices on the same date.
For those unaware, Windows 8.1 is the first major update to the Windows 8 operating system and brings many new changes, such as Internet Explorer 11, integrated Bing search, Skype and SkyDrive integration, UI changes and that Start button that everyone missed so much. A preview of the 8.1 update is available for download on the Windows Store, with an RTM releasing shortly and the final version on the previously mentioned date.
Windows 8.1 to hit OEMs in August, go on sale in mid-October
According to sources close to ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley Microsoft’s Windows 8.1 update will be released to end users by mid-October.
The
RTM version will start seeding in the beginning of August and after manufacturers have fiddled and optimized it for their varying hardware it’s expected to be available to the general public by mid-October.
Sources point say that those hoping to get an early taste of Windows 8.1 via MSDN or TechNet by mid-August might be out of luck. But that’s still to be verified so we’ll be keeping an ear on the ground.
Formerly known as Blue, the 8.1 Windows brings a start button (but without the Windows 7-style Start Menu), the option to boot directly into Desktop mode, wallpaper support in the Modern UI and more.
Microsoft still posts a profit despite $900 million in quarterly loses due to poor Surface RT sales
It’s clear by now to everyone that the
Surface RT has been a failure. The first Windows tablet to run on the ARM platform was doomed to obscurity when people realized they could not run legacy Windows applications on the device and had to rely on their lackluster ARM counterparts from the Windows Store.
The latest earnings report has revealed that the tablet has cost Microsoft some $900 million in loses, but the company was still able to post a revenue just shy of $20 billion – a 10% increase over the same quarter last year.It also posted some $4.97 billion in net income, with $0.59 earnings per share.
According to Microsoft’s fiscal Q4 2013 earnings, which were pretty positive overall, there was one black mark in the form of a $900 million loss caused due to Surface RT ‘inventory adjustment’. Basically, Microsoft overestimated the demand for the tablet and, according to The Verge, ended up producing close to three to five million Surface RT tablets, whereas close one million were actually sold. To put things in perspective, Apple soldclose to 20 million iPads in the second fiscal quarter.
Despite the failure of the RT and decline in the PC market, Microsoft was still able to stay in the black thanks to enterprise and cloud offerings, as well as in its Entertainment and Devices Division, where they recorded a revenue of $1.9 billion thanks to Xbox-related sales – a 7.5% increase over last year. The Business Division, where Office and other enterprise sales are reflected, also showed a increase in revenue by 14%, or some $7.2 billion.
As for the Surface RT, the company has recently
slashed prices on the tablet, but it yet remains to be seen if it manages to attract buyers or will just be a case of too little, too late..
Microsoft’s new anti-iPad ad brags about the multi-tasking of Windows 8 tablets
Microsoft has released a new ad to promote its Windows 8 tablets. The latest ad, which goes by the name “Baseball”, talks up the multi-tasking abilities of a Windows 8 tablet by comparing them against those of the
Apple’s iPad.
The video clip that lasts for about 30 seconds, and tells the story of two tablet-wielding agents, who are looking to sign a hot prospect for their teams.
