Samsung Galaxy Round gets its own TV ad

Samsung has released the first commercial of the curved Galaxy Round smartphone. The ad is in Korean, because it is the first (and at this stage the only) country to get the cool gadget. It’s unclear if the curved smartphone will be going global in the future, but chances are looking slim at this point.
Meanwhile, LG has also announced its first curved smartphone – the 6.0-inch LG G Flex. It will be launching in Korea in November as well.

Stolen truck containing $14 million worth of LG G2′s recovered

a truck containing a shipment of LG G2 smartphones valued at some $14 million was stolen from a truck stop in Gary, Indiana.
Today, Kentucky State Police has recovered the truck full of lost goods intact, and has apprehended a suspect after he allegedly crashed a tractor trailer carrying the stolen cargo into a utility pole. The truck containing some 22,500 LG G2 units (at the current $630 off contract price that equals over $14 million) destined for Sprint retailers in Louisville, Kentucky was stolen on Saturday while the driver was taking a bathroom break.

NVIDIA Shield gets a major update

NVIDIA’s Android-based handheld gaming console Shield has received a massive update that brings with it several important new features. The first one is the update to Android 4.3 from the 4.2 on the previous build. Android 4.3, as you may know, brings things such as Bluetooth Smart support, improved text input and OpenGL ES 3.0, among other things (although Tegra 4 in the Shield doesn’t actually support OpenGL ES 3.0).
NVIDIA has also updated the game streaming support on the Shield. Now called GameStream, it lets you stream from 109 titles (at the time of writing) from your PC running an NVIDIA Kepler-based GPU to your Shield. You can also connect your Shield to a TV and play the Shield games on the big screen in Full HD. There is also a new gamepad mapper feature that lets you existing Android games without controller support to be mapped to the physical controller on the Shield. You map the keys on the screen to the buttons and then play the game using the buttons. NVIDIA is also selling some bundles, where you can get a GeForce graphics card for your PC, a bunch of games and $100 off on the price of the Steam. So if you’re hunting for a graphics card for your PC this holiday season, you might want to consider that offer.

Samsung Galaxy Gear gets full notification support with a cool app

Samsung Galaxy Gear is surely a cool gadget, but it comes with lots of annoying limitations. Samsung is promising it will explore further the Galaxy Gear capabilities and will deliver more features later on. Meanwhile an XDA Developers member has made a very useful app that will show full notifications on your Galaxy Gear for all apps, not just messages and emails as it is by default. It was indeed frustrating that such a capable and expensive gadget as the Gear is capable of displaying complete notifications only for the SMS messages and emails, while you get only header-like notifications for all other apps. Luckily the XDA user Sepiroth887 has created the AllTheNotifications (ATN) Manager that allows you to choose which apps to display full notifications on your Gear. It is very easy to setup and you need just to choose the desired apps from a list. If you’ve used Pebble, you’ll know Pebble had a similar problem (being not compatible with lots of apps such as Viber, Skype, Facebook, etc.) that was later fixed with the Pebble Notifier app. So, if you own a Gear and a compatible Galaxy device (Android 4.3, latest TouchWiz), head over the source link below, get the app and thank Sepiroth887. Be sure to follow the instructions on how to install it. The app is still in its infancy and has some issues, such as it will display notifications even when you are using your Galaxy, but they will be probably resolved soon.

‘Plants vs. Zombies 2′ now available on Android

As if the delays for the much anticipated sequel to the original Plants vs. Zombies weren’t enough, EA decided to push back the Android release of Plants vs. Zombies 2 even further to an unspecified date. That unspecified date happened to be yesterday as the Android version of the game was finally released on the Play Store. We have already reviewed the game back when it released on iOS and there is not much new to say now. It is the same free to play tower defense game with an added dose of in-app purchase. The game is quite good and there is not much to complain considering it’s free. If you haven’t already, hit the link below to download the game.

Updated: Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet dressed in cyan and red leaks out in press images

The upcoming Nokia Lumia 2520 Windows RT tablet made yet another unscheduled appearance, thanks to @evleaks. After allowing us to potentially catch a glimpse of its kickstand three days ago, the slate leaked out in a press image, dressed in a cyan outfit.
The tablet in the leaked images sports a design which is in line with the looks of Nokia Lumia range of smartphones. Its rumored specs include Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC, 10.1” 1080p display, and LTE support. Nokia Lumia 2520 is all but certain to be unveiled at the Nokia World event in Abu Dhabi on October 22. The tablet is rumored to be available in four colors – black, white, red, and the cyan from the image above.

LG details the UK and Ireland availability of G Pad 8.3

LG Mobile announced today the UK availability for the G Pad 8.3. The slate will be offered exclusively via the IT distributor Micro P and will be released at the end of October for £259.99.
Harvey Norman is the exclusive LG distributor for the G Pad 8.3 on the Irish market. The tablet will be hitting the shelves in Ireland by the end of October as well.

Nestle posts a tasty-looking Android 4.4 KitKat teaser

Google has released a new image teasing the upcoming launch of Android 4.4 KitKat. Accompanied by the text “Everybody dance now!, the image hints that we should expect Google to spill out all the beans of the latest Android release any day now.
As it’s been the case with every major Android update so far, Google will bring a new Nexus device to go with 4.4 KitKat. The search giant is all but guaranteed to launch the Nexus 5 at its event later this month. The date for said event hasn’t been confirmed yet (if there is one), but October 30 has been marked as a possible announcement date. Leaked screenshots of the Nexus 5 running the updated OS have surfaced, giving us an overall idea of what we should expect. There’ll be some UI changed, which include mildly redesigned stock apps with Quickoffice integration, new additions to the settings menu, as well as the cool-looking Android KitKat Easter egg. The status bar is transparent and with white icons. There’s also a camera shortcut placed in the lower right corner of the lockscreen – much like on iOS 7. The option to access the camera via a swipe gesture is also reportedly now going to be backed into the OS itself. Under the hood, Google has been working out new tweaks to SMS handling as well as new location settings.

iPad mini won’t be reading fingerprints

New images of the alleged next iPad mini and iPad 5 have leaked just days before the Apple October 22 event.
The images show the iPad mini 2 next to the iPhone 5s and with another iPad lurking in the background. Notice how the home button isn’t TouchID but a vanilla one? Previous leaks suggested the iPad mini 2 will have TouchID, but this seems to put those speculations to rest. It’s all but certain that the big upcoming iPad will have TouchID, have the same narrow-bezel design as the current mini and be more compact than the iPad 4. We’ve seen both upcoming tablets in pictures and a video – perhaps Apple should at least try and regain the secrecy it was once a synonym of. Perhaps the omission of the TouchID home button was necessary in order to keep the price under control. Would a Retina display also be omitted from the list for the same reasons? Not long now, just four days until Apple’s event.

------------------------------------what true caller says about hack--------------------------------

"Truecaller experienced a cyberattack on our website that resulted in an unauthorized access to some data. We were able to shut it down moments after we discovered it. Our investigation into the matter indicates the attackers were able to access 'tokens', which was immediately reset. Metaphorically speaking, a 'token' is a unique lock for each user, but what the attackers did not acquire is the needed key, which has also been reset.

Truecaller does not store passwords, credit card information, or any other sensitive information about our users. It is false information that attackers were able to access our user's Facebook, Twitter, or any other social media passwords.

We are still investigating the extent of unauthorized access of our database. We have outlined steps to help us deal with the situation. These steps include more complex security measures and various other tools we want to keep within the company.

We feel it is crucial to publicize the attack because it is important that we keep true to the honesty and integrity of the Truecaller brand.

We want to thank our users for their patience, as we are still investigating and acquiring information."

Windows 8 Review

Windows 8 is a personal computer operating system developed by Microsoft. Development of Windows 8 started before the release of its predecessor,Windows 7, in 2009. It was announced at CES 2011, and followed by the release of three pre-release versions from September 2011 to May 2012. The operating system was released to manufacturing on August 1, 2012, and was released for general availability on October 26, 2012.[3]
Windows 8 introduced major changes to the operating system's platform and user interface to improve its user experience on devices such as tablets, where Windows was now competing with mobile operating systems such as Android and iOS.[4] In particular, these changes included a touch-optimized Windows shell based on Microsoft's "Metro" design language, the Start screen (which displays programs and dynamically updated content on a grid of tiles), a new platform for developing apps with an emphasis on touchscreen input, integration with online services (including the ability to sync apps and settings between devices), and Windows Store, an online store for downloading and purchasing new software. Windows 8 added support for new and emerging technologies such as USB 3.0Advanced Format hard drives, near field communications, and cloud computing. Additional security features were introduced, such as built-in antivirus software, integration with Microsoft SmartScreen phishing filtering service and support for UEFI Secure Boot on supported devices with UEFI firmware, to prevent malware from infecting the boot process.
Windows 8 was released to mixed reception. Although reaction towards its performance improvements, security enhancements, and improved support for touchscreen devices was positive, the new user interface of the operating system was widely criticized for being potentially confusing and difficult to learn (especially when used with a keyboard and mouse instead of a touchscreen). Despite these shortcomings, 60 million Windows 8 licenses have been sold through January 2013, a number which included both upgrades and sales to OEMs for new PCs.[5]
On June 26, 2013, Microsoft released a public beta of the first major update to the operating system, Windows 8.1, to be officially released on October 18, 2013. The update is intended to address aspects of Windows 8 that were criticized by reviewers and early adopters (such as the removal of theStart button from the desktop interface), and will also incorporate additional improvements to various aspects of the operating system
